September News
We absolutely love this time of year. The fresh Autumn mornings are creeping in, all the horses work has stepped up and we’re all full of excitement for the season ahead.
We believe the team of horses we have for this season are our most exciting yet, with stars from last season including Deep Cave & Planned Paradise, and a strong mixed team of young horses, new recruits, and seasoned campaigners who are ready to step up again. From proven winners aiming to progress onto bigger prizes, to emerging talent in the young horses - there is a lot to look forward to.
The Dragonbet Welsh Racing Festival at Chepstow is where things really kick off for us, and as ever we plan to send a good team there to have their first starts of the season. The weekend is well supported by our Owners, many of whom tie it in with visiting the yard too, and after a long Summer it’s a great opportunity to catch up with everyone and make plans for the months ahead.
Christian and our agents have been hard at work over the Summer, travelling across the UK, Ireland, and France, attending sales and visiting breeders in search of the next star. Our focus has been on finding the most promising young prospects — horses with the pedigree, athleticism, and a good temperament. We’re delighted many of these have been sold to existing owners, and are as delighted to welcome some new owners to the team!
We have also recently sourced two very smart 5yo Irish point-to-pointers, which are for sale, and ready to run. We think a lot of the pair of them and are thoroughly looking forward to getting them on the track. Please give Christian a ring, or contact megan@christianwilliamsracing.com for more details.
This week saw the arrival of two lovely 2yo Geldings from France, bought with the help of Daniel Cooper, - one by Tunis and one by Jeu St Eloi. You have to be out there all the time looking for the next champion. It’s a never ending challenge, but it’s very satisfying to get them home, get to know them and watch them thrive as they settle into our routine.
Along with our potentially strongest team of horses for the season ahead, we have absolutely no doubt we have the strongest team of staff to carry us through the season. A few fresh faces and a few well aged ones too! Lee, Nicky, Ellie and Jack make up our senior team. We welcome Lee back to the team this year - he was our first and only member of staff when we started training with 3 horses, he knows Christian and the whole place inside out and we are thrilled to have him back. Of course everyone knows Nicky - but may not know that he is also now a qualified Equine Dentist. His skill and knowledge have already made a noticeable difference to our horses’ comfort and performance, and we are very proud of him.
Together with Ellie & Jack, they lead a strong team of talented, hard working and knowledgeable individuals who we are immensely grateful for. We count ourselves very fortunate to work alongside such gifted equine professionals, whose passion and expertise help us give every horse the highest standard of care, day in day out.
Our Stepping Stones Syndicate continues to be very popular - we are just thrilled with how much interest this had has since launching. Now onto our 3rd syndicate horse in the lovely “Vale of Tears,” shares are from 5% and are selling very quickly. Christian actually sat on her two days last week and along with the boys is very impressed with her. She goes very nicely at home and schools away beautifully. She is a 4yo by Mahler, and is ready to run. Please contact megan@christianwilliamsracing.com for details. The syndicate is a great way to experience racehorse ownership for a fraction of the cost - visit our unique training operation, come racing with us, receive regular quality updates and your share of prize money!
What’s not to love.
We are also looking forward to hosting our next syndicate morning in a fortnights time - it’s a great opportunity to get everyone together, meet new people, watch the horses on the beach, and of course go for breakfast.
Below is our newly named “Tails of Gold,” named this week by his owners in the Stepping Stones Syndicate - he is now sold out, along with Bombay Pete.
We’re excited to see all of them out on the track this season.
If you’re looking for a smaller involvement, our Racing Club is a nice way to get a feel for ownership and enjoy many benefits - including days at the races, stable visits and regular updates - for only £300 a year / £30 a month. We have a nice 3yo to add into the club, and members will get plenty of enjoyment through the season.
We were gutted to lose Master Muggins after sustaining an injury at Uttoxeter last week, when running another nice race for our Racing Club members. A happy horse who spent his early days with Jack Tudor, thrived in our routine and just loved being a racehorse. It’s never easy coming home to an empty stable, and he is much missed.
It was very satisfying to turn the first horses out at our new land in Treoes this month. Whilst it would be even more satisfying to get a digger in the ground, it all takes time and it’ll hopefully be very much worth the wait. The youngsters are enjoying exploring the fields there and making the most of the pleasant weather before it really turns.
Please do take a look at our 2025/26 Horses in Training brochure.
Thanks as ever to our owners for their continued support heading into the season. We hope it is a memorable, happy and healthy season for all.
