October News

It’s been another busy few weeks at Ogmore Farm as the jump season gets fully underway. The team continue to work hard at home, and we’ve enjoyed getting plenty of horses out for their first runs of the campaign.

There’s lots to look forward to as we head deeper into the Autumn.

It was wonderful to see Unspeakable get his head in front at Hereford on 13th October, under a top ride from Charlie Maggs for long standing owner John Stanaway and his syndicate The Unspeakable Twelve. A great result for all connections and a big boost for our team.

The Dragonbet Welsh Racing Festival is always one of our favourite meetings of the year and it was great to catch up with so many owners, friends and supporters there. Chepstow Racecourse paired up with Dragonbet for this meeting to raise an exceptional £3500 for LATCH Wales - a charity very close to our hearts. In addition, they invited Betsy to “ring the bell” ahead of the first race, and we were proud to also sponsor the “Christian Williams Racing Supports Childhood Cancer” Mares Handicap Hurdle later on in the card.

October has delivered some lovely, crisp Autumn mornings and spectacular sunrises whilst riding out! Whilst we still wait for more rain to arrive to really get the season going, it’s been great to get a number of horses out for their first runs of the campaign on safe ground. We’ve also been making plenty use of the schooling races and gallop mornings at various racecourses. These offer invaluable experience particularly to the young horses, and it certainly shows when they come to have their first runs - as seen with Tails of Gold, Mya du Clos and Milady du Breuil in the last fortnight, taking everything in their stride on their first days at school and not putting a foot out of place all day.

THE STEPPING STONES SYNDICATE NEWS

Bombay Pete has enjoyed two runs in novice hurdles this month, learning more with each run and seeing a vast improvement in his jumping and how he travels through his races. Jack is full of praise for him.

Tails of Gold had his first start at Exeter last week in a 3yo Bumper. We were delighted with how he ran, racing professionally and galloping all the way to the line. He’s done plenty of schooling at home and should relish those 3yo hurdle races over the next couple of months.

Vale of Tears continues to show us plenty at home, a lovely likeable filly who takes everything in her stride. There are a handful of 5% shares left in her - if anyone is looking to get involved in ownership - come racing with us, visit the yard and receive regular quality updates. Get in touch for more information megan@christianwilliamsracing.com

She’s ready to run and will provide plenty of fun.

We are also delighted to have FADED FANTASY join our Racing Club. Already a winer of 3 races this year, he is fit and ready to run.
