Deep Cave keeps us dreaming…

John and Clive have been clocking up the miles the last 10 days with runners across the country, as well as away gallop days and sales - it’s a non stop time of year and everyone is doing their bit to keep the show on the road.

We made the trip to Bangor last Wednesday with 7 runners, and despite the horrendously wet weather, no amount of rain or mud could dampen our spirits after watching Deep Cave coast to victory on his seasonal reappearance in the “Weatherbys and Birdie Calendars Handicap Chase.” He travelled smoothly throughout the 3m contest, jumped well and saw his race out strongly under a cool, calm ride from Jack Tudor. The manner in which he finished his race was very encouraging, and there should be more to come from him over staying trips.

Carrying the colours of Sue Howell for the first time, it was wonderful to have her there to enjoy the day with us, alongside partner Mark and son Jason. Congratulations to them, and to all of our team who very much enjoyed this big boost!

Deep Cave delivered on the big stage when winning the first race on Grand National Day over hurdles last season, and he continues to show the potential of a horse capable of winning more big prizes.

Perhaps we can dream of the biggest prize of all with him?
