Christmas Wishes…
On the eve of Christmas, we would like to thank our owners, friends and family for their continued support and belief in the yard throughout the calendar year. We’ve enjoyed a busy yet rewarding festive season so far, and are very much looking forward to a couple of quieter days with our families before racing kicks off again on Boxing Day.
Deep Cave delivered a wonderful early Christmas present at Ascot on Saturday, when winning the Howden Silver Cup Handicap Chase under a superb ride from Jack Tudor for Sue Howell and family. Sue and Mark have been such huge supporters of the yard, and to share such a special day with them meant so much. The future looks very bright for Deep Cave, and he’s the type of horse we dream of having in the yard.
Friday also brought success when House of Habsburg got his head in front under a never say die ride from Sean Bowen at Uttoxeter for owners Whites Property Ltd.
Hopefully the first of many winners in these black and yellow colours.
We’ve also seen plenty of encouraging placed efforts, including Planned Paradise putting in another fine effort at Ludlow to finish 3rd, Williethebuilder made the journey to Doncaster and ran a great race for Susan Carsberg in 2nd, Faded Fantasy picked up 3rd for the Christian Williams Racing Club and Dixie Mafia gave Encore Racing great excitement when finishing 2nd at Aintree on Becher Chase Day.
Away from the racecourse, we are extremely proud of our Head Girl, Ellie Jefferson, who has made the finals of the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards. This is a fantastic achievement and very well deserved, she is a credit to our team.
We’d like to thank owners for the many treats and gifts received by the team over the festive period. There have been some very bleak days riding out over the last few weeks, but your generosity has kept spirits high in camp! It’s much appreciated by all our staff.
We must also thank our outstanding team for their hard work and dedication all year round, particularly at this time of year. While many roles pause over Christmas and New Year, the show goes on for our team who will spend Christmas morning riding out, mucking out and caring for our four legged friends - although with a few more mince pies and hangovers than a normal Thursday morning!
Looking ahead, we will have a handful of runners between Christmas and New Year. Entries include Williethebuilder at Kempton on the 27th, Golden Prince, Egbert and Blazing Saint on the 30th, and hopefully a couple of runners at Uttoxeter on New Year’s Eve.
Thank you all for your continued support and friendship throughout 2025. We wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy and successful New Year.
