It may have been a relatively quiet few weeks on the racecourse, with only a handful of runners, but there has certainly been no shortage of activity at Ogmore Farm.

The jumpers are cantering away, the younger horses continue to progress and there is a real sense of excitement around the yard as we build towards the start of the National Hunt season proper.

After a busy summer sourcing new horses and welcoming some exciting new faces to the team, we feel we have a really strong group heading into 2026/27 and there is plenty to look forward to over the coming months.

A Brilliant Owners’ Day

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Owners’ Day on Sunday 30th August.

We were incredibly proud of how well all the horses looked on the day. The whole team had done an amazing job getting them ready, and seeing them all looking so well was a real credit to everyone who works so hard behind the scenes at Ogmore Farm. We couldn’t have been prouder of both the horses and the team.

It was fantastic to welcome so many owners, friends and supporters to the yard, and we really appreciate everyone who travelled to be there and support us.

It was a brilliant day and a lovely way to get everyone together ahead of what we hope will be an exciting season.

Over £1,000 Raised for Dreams & Wishes

We were also delighted that the day helped us raise more than £1,000 for our charity partner, Dreams & Wishes, through the bucket collections.

Dreams & Wishes does incredible work supporting seriously ill children and their families, and it is a charity we are extremely proud to support.

Thank you to everyone who donated so generously on the day. To raise more than £1,000 was a fantastic result and we look forward to continuing our support throughout the season.

The Jumpers Are Coming!

Although runners have been few and far between recently, things are getting considerably busier at home.

All of our jumpers are cantering away and gradually stepping up their work as we prepare for the autumn. Plans are beginning to take shape and it won't be long before we start seeing plenty more familiar faces back on the racecourse.

We have a lovely mix this season, from established horses such as Kitty's Light, Deep Cave and House of Habsburg to some exciting new recruits and a particularly nice bunch of youngsters coming through.

One to Watch

One youngster creating plenty of excitement at home is “As de Loire,” a three-year-old gelding by Moises Has out of Bora Bora Emery.

He was one of our summer purchases and is exactly the type of young horse we love bringing into the yard – unexposed, beautifully bred and with his whole career ahead of him. He’s a particularly athletic horse who moves beautifully, and he has impressed us with everything he has done since arriving.

Jack Tudor describes him as “the nicest three-year-old I’ve sat on in a long time.”

As de Loire is currently for sale, and for anyone looking for an exciting young National Hunt prospect for the future, we think he is a particularly exciting opportunity.

Two Blue Bresils to Look Out For

We’re also very excited about two lovely three-year-old geldings by Blue Bresil, a sire who needs little introduction to National Hunt followers.

One is out of Carrigeen Diamond and the other out of Starryeyesurprise, and both have really pleased us since arriving. They are two lovely, athletic young horses with great attitudes, and we think there is plenty to look forward to with both of them as they continue to strengthen and develop.

Both are currently available for sale.

Introducing The Ladies Circle

We’re really excited to be launching something completely new this season – The Ladies Circle.

Our first ladies-only racing syndicate will combine the excitement of racehorse ownership with a big social element, bringing together a group of like-minded women to enjoy racing both on and off the racecourse.

Members will have a 10% share in two horses trained here at Ogmore Farm, alongside yard visits, race days, social events and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the experience together.

Looking Ahead

Christian has spent much of the summer travelling across Britain, Ireland and France looking for the next generation of horses, with a huge amount of time going into finding young prospects with the pedigree and athleticism to succeed, but equally importantly, the right temperament and attitude.

With the established horses returning, some exciting recruits joining the team and a lovely group of youngsters coming through, we're really looking forward to getting the 2026/27 season properly underway.
