Summertime at Ogmore
Whilst the amount of runners slows down over Summer, it’s a chance for us to get stuck into all the essential maintenance jobs around the yard - including power washing, disinfecting, painting and repairs, ready for when things ramp up again!
Most of the horses are out in the fields enjoying their Summer holidays, although we still have a small team of runners and we’ve already got a few winners on the board for the new season.
Side Stepper got our new season off the mark when winning his first race under rules, at Uttoxeter on 3rd May under Jack Tudor for Owners Sue & Mark.
Always Busy won cosily for George Moore and family at Southwell on 12th May. Despite looking outpaced jumping four out he quickly rallied under another masterful Jack Tudor ride and was well on top at the finish.
Illogical Logic gained compensation for his fall at the second last fence a week earlier, to make all and win at Newton Abbot on 4th June for Owners, Trembath Nisbet Hughes & Wright. Hopefully this will give him the confidence to continue progressing and winning races.
And it was wonderful to train another winner for The Coral Racing Club as Cave Article made it 3 from 7 over fences in decisive fashion at Southwell on 9th June. This was a career best performance from him and we hope he will continue to climb the ranks.
Most of the horses which are on their Summer break are turned out in a lovely, huge field a mile from the yard. It’s wonderful to take some time out everyday to wander round and see how they’re changing week to week - the youngsters are growing and filling out, and their coats are changing shade in the sun. They’re so relaxed and it’s a wonderful sight.
It’s also a busy time of year sourcing new stock. Christian has been attending all the sales across the UK, Ireland and is currently in France inspecting horses and trying to buy the next champion. It’s exciting to see new heads over the doors and we all love getting to know them as they settle into our routine and surroundings.
We do have a couple of exciting horses for sale within the yard which have been purchased over the last couple of weeks - should you be interested in full or part ownership please get in touch with megan@christianwilliamsracing.com for details.
Our “Stepping Stones Syndicate” continues to be very popular with only a couple of shares left in our very nice unnamed 3yo by Nathaniel out of the talented Lifeboat Mona. We took him away for a racecourse gallop last week and he was very impressive - a star in the making. Contact megan@christianwilliamsracing.com for details on him.
We’re also looking forward to getting our Christian Williams Racing Club launched over the next couple of days…stay tuned for details!
Our next entries are at Bangor on Saturday, with our old favourite Cap du Nord and on the other end of the scale He’sgotsometoe with his first entry.
